Matheus Cunha: Wolves forward handed two-game ban and fined £80,000 by FA following Ipswich melee

Wolves forward Matheus Cunha has been handed a two-game ban and fined £80,000 following the incident after full-time in the game against Ipswich.

Cunha was involved in an altercation with a member of the Ipswich staff following the end of the Premier League fixture on December 14 and the FA went on to charge the Brazil international for acting in an "improper manner".

The incident came after Jack Taylor scored a late winner for Ipswich, who are also fighting for survival in the Premier League, in Gary O'Neil's final game before being relieved of his role as Wolves boss.

Wolves have won four of their 19 matches and are 17th in the Premier League.

In a statement, the FA said: "Matheus Cunha has been suspended for two games and fined £80,000 following the Premier League fixture between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ipswich Town on Saturday December 14 2024.

"The forward was charged with misconduct and it was alleged that he acted in an improper manner after the final whistle. He admitted the charge and the sanctions were subsequently imposed by an independent Regulatory Commission.

"Full written reasons for this case will be published in due course."

Cunha will miss the Premier League game with Nottingham Forest on Monday, live on VidSport Live, as well as Wolves' FA Cup third-round trip to Bristol City the following Saturday.
